Event Funding

An Important Message to Applicants:

UDC has established the following funding priorities. We are aware that these priorities do not address all important problems or opportunities; therefore, we welcome proposals that address issues not mentioned in these guidelines, or that address more than one of our priorities simultaneously. We also encourage ideas that further the mission of the committee. In short, the aim of the funding priorities is to stimulate rather than limit the thinking potential of applicants.

Funding Priorities:

UDC welcomes proposals to improve the campus climate by the creation of open fora or town meetings which facilitate discussion by community members, students, faculty, staff, and administrators. These events should relate to the major theme of “unity within a diverse community.” Although all proposals for funding are accepted and considered, those which support this theme through activity, service, and unity, will be given greater priority by the Committee.

Funding Guidelines:

  • Proposals need to be submitted at least one month before the event. Proposals may be submitted online or delivered to Carmen Murillo-Moyeda, Chair of the Events Subcommittee, AD-188. The last day to submit a proposal for the 2008/09 AY is Friday, May 15, 2009. Proposals will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. Not every proposal will necessarily be funded or funded fully.

  • If your event is funded by UDC, you must have your paperwork to Tina Valencia, Undergraduate Studies, UH-352 within the time specified in your acceptance letter.

  • Funding is available to support the invitation of guest speakers, presentations, and campus events consistent with the mission of the University Diversity Committee.

  • Funds are available to CSUSB academic and administrative departments, student groups and officially recognized campus organizations. Funded events must take place on the CSUSB campus and must be open to all members of the university community, and if funded, must be advertised on the UDC web page.

  • Funding is limited to $1,000 maximum depending on the decision of the Committee and subject to the availability of funds.

  • Funded proposals will be awarded as a single expense. No separate expenses are allowed for lodging, travel, or gift items such as a plaque.

  • All proposals must follow the guidelines of the request forms and the above conditions. Proposals will be evaluated based on feasibility, potential for campus-wide appeal, and promotion of concerns for diversity on campus.

  • All proposals will be fully considered; however, those requests that have received matching funds will be given preference.

  • Events should be publicized via campus media as much as possible. UDC must be acknowledged as a sponsor in all publicity regarding the event.
